Abstract: Helen Ludovisi, una ragazza inglese di origini italiane, laureata in arte riceve in eredità un'antica villa. Questa si trova in Italia, precisamente nella pianura bolognese. Conosciuta dai locali come "Villa Clara". La giovane decide così di partire, per andare in Italia con il suo ragazzo Jacob e tre membri della sovrintendenza ai beni culturali dello Regno Unito. Questi incontreranno una delegazione della sovrintendenza dei beni culturali di Bologna, per pianificare il restauro della villa, la quale sembra avvolta da un alone di mistero: nell'Ottocento, Clara, la piccola della famiglia Ludovisi a causa dei suoi poteri di chiaroveggenza, fu uccisa e murata all'interno del palazzo dal padre, il quale credeva che tali facoltà fossero opera del demonio. Si dice che ancora oggi, violenza e brutalità echeggino in quei luoghi e che lo spirito di Clara continui a vagare tra le mura della dimora. Tale storia non fermerà Helen e la troupe da un sopralluogo mirato al restauro. Uno di loro scomparirà in circostanze misteriose e questo farà si che Helen, Jacob e il resto della troupe si recheranno all'imbrunire in quell'oscuro luogo, per cercare l'amico. E solo dopo essere rimasti stranamente bloccati all'interno della villa, che si troveranno a fronteggiare le forze oscure che la dimora nasconde.
