The Boy Who Harnassed the Wind

Abstract: William Kamkwamba grew up on a small farm in Malawy, one of the poorest countries in the world. A terrible drought in 2002 led to the worst famine Malawi had suffered in 50 years. William's family lost most of their crops. They had nothing to eat or sell in the market - and no money to pay for William's school fees. But William did not give up. In the village library he found books that gave him to come up with a brilliant idea that would change many lives. At the age of fourteen William built a windmill that brought elecricity to his home and allowed his family to pump water for their fields. Thsi is the true story of a resilient yount inventor from Africa who never gave up, even in the most desperate situation, and who became known around the world as the boy who harnassed the wind.
